La Aurora Launches the Santiago Collection in the US

Dominican cigar maker La Aurora, one of the oldest active brands in the Dominican Republic, has announced the US launch of its Santiago Collection. The new line rounds out the company’s portfolio with a profile designed specifically for North American smokers, at a time when competition in the premium cigar segment keeps intensifying.

The launch arrives amid a broader wave of industry news: several established brands have recently announced range extensions or anniversary editions, a sign that demand for quality cigars remains solid even in the current economic climate.

For cigar smokers, news like this confirms that the big Dominican houses keep investing in new blends, not just reissues. If you’d like to discover premium cigars, take a look at the cigar selection at Mister Tabaco.

Garrison Brothers Releases the 2026 Laguna Madre, an 8-Year Texas Bourbon

Garrison Brothers, the first and oldest legal whiskey distillery in Texas, has announced the release of its 2026 Laguna Madre Texas Straight Bourbon, scheduled for August 8 at the distillery in Hye, Texas. This year’s batch yielded 3,000 bottles total, with the first 1,000 reserved for the release-day event and the remaining 2,000 reaching key retail accounts and the distillery’s e-commerce site starting August 14.

The bourbon is aged for eight full years: four years in hand-selected white American oak barrels, followed by another four years in rare Limousin oak casks, under the intense heat of the Texas Hill Country. The result, bottled at 101 proof (50.5% ABV), carries notes of vanilla bean, hazelnut, saltwater taffy, and milk chocolate.

New this year is a cask strength single barrel version, bottled at 135.4 proof and sold exclusively at the distillery. For American whiskey enthusiasts, releases like this remain an annual highlight, largely thanks to the long aging process and the strictly limited quantities. The Republic of Tea Wins NEXTY Award for a Regenerative Assam Tea

The Republic of Tea received the 2026 NEXTY Editor’s Choice Award, presented at Natural Products Expo West, for its Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC) Assam Black Tea. The announcement was made on March 25, 2026, recognizing one of the most rigorous sustainability standards in agriculture.

Regenerative Organic Certification, awarded by the Regenerative Organic Alliance, goes beyond standard organic farming: it evaluates soil health, fairness toward farm workers, support for farmers and animal welfare, through a farm-based, brand-driven certification system. For an Assam tea — typically grown on large, intensive plantations — such a certification is seen as a notable step toward more responsible practices in the tea industry.

Villiger Cigars has expanded its 1888 line with a new blend, San Andrés, which reached North American retailers in mid-June. The cigar pairs a Mexican San Andrés wrapper with an Ecuadorian habano binder and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, and is rolled at the Villiger Cigars de Nicaragua factory in Estelí.

The European Union Formally Joins the New International Coffee Agreement

The European Union has formally approved, on its own behalf, the International Coffee Agreement 2022, replacing the older 2007 agreement. The new text updates the International Coffee Organization’s (ICO) voting and contribution system and, for the first time, brings the private sector and civil society into the organization’s work.

The new agreement was originally adopted back in 2022 by the International Coffee Council, but the ratification and formal accession process for member states continued into this month, when the EU finalized its approval.

The move is seen as an important step for the long-term stability of the global coffee market, at a time when worldwide production, exports and consumption are, according to recent estimates, hitting record levels.
