Bacardi Takes Its ecoSPIRITS Packaging Partnership Global

On July 16, 2026, Bacardi signed a new global agreement with ecoSPIRITS, deepening their collaboration on circular packaging and broadening access to the ecoSPIRITS technology platform across Bacardi’s brand portfolio worldwide.

The licensing agreement gives Bacardi access to the full ecoSPIRITS circular platform, including ecoTOTE™, SmartPour™, ecoPLANT™ and the CircularONE™ software.

The partnership began in August 2023, when Bacardi became the first spirits company to introduce circular packaging in the cruise industry. Since then, using Bacardí Carta Blanca rum, the company has eliminated more than 130,000 single-use glass bottles, preventing over 82,000kg of packaging waste. The technology is now used by more than 3,000 leading bars, restaurants and hotels worldwide.

World Coffee Production Set to Hit a Record High in 2026/27

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) forecasts that the 2026/27 crop year will bring simultaneous records in global coffee production, exports and consumption. World production could reach nearly 190 million 60kg bags, roughly 6% above the previous year, while exports are estimated at close to 159 million bags and consumption at nearly 180 million.

The arabica harvest is expected to hit an all-time high of over 105 million bags, while robusta would rank as the second-largest on record, at nearly 84 million bags. Analysts project a surplus of around 10 million bags, which could ease price volatility for traders and roasters, even as smallholders with high production costs may feel margin pressure if prices fall.

Jose Cuervo Launches a Tequila Finished in Mole-Seasoned Casks

JOSE CUERVO SILVER

Proximo Spirits this month launched Reserva de la Familia by Jose Cuervo Private Cask Collection Edition No. 2 – Mole Cask, an añejo tequila the brand is marketing as the “world’s first” tequila finished in casks that previously held mole, the traditional Mexican sauce built on cacao and chili. The finishing process lasts three to four months and is meant to layer cacao and warm spice notes onto the Reserva de la Familia collection’s classic roasted-agave character.

The limited edition is bottled at 40% ABV and sells for $120 per 75cl bottle, currently available in the US market. The release lands in a year when major tequila brands keep experimenting with gastronomy-inspired cask finishes to stand out in an increasingly competitive premium segment.

Jose Cuervo Silver is already available in Mister Tabaco’s spirits range, in the Alcohol category.

Bardstown Bourbon Releases a Whiskey Finished in Pineapple Rum Casks

Bardstown Bourbon Company released Victoria Pineapple Barrel Finish Whiskey on July 24, 2026, a limited edition created by finishing 10-to-11-year-old bourbons in casks that previously held pineapple rum, together with fresh pineapple. The result is a 53% ABV American whiskey produced in a small run — under 350 cases in total — priced at $139.99 for a 75cl bottle.

The Bardstown, Kentucky distillery continues its series of experiments with unconventional cask finishes, a trend that keeps growing among American bourbon producers looking to surprise drinkers with unusual flavor profiles — in this case, tropical notes of caramelized pineapple layered over the classic character of aged bourbon.

Casa Carrillo Launches Ascend, the New Cigar in the Perez-Carrillo Line

Dominican cigar maker Casa Carrillo has begun shipping its new Ascend cigar to retailers, the latest regular-production addition to the Perez-Carrillo line. The blend pairs an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder from the Estelí region and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos grown from Criollo 98 and Corojo 2012 seeds.

The release is built around the idea of a progressive climb, reflected in its three available sizes: Saddle (5 x 50, robusto), Ridge (6 x 52, toro) and Peak (6 1/4 x 58, gordo), priced between $12.75 and $14.95 per cigar. The cigars are rolled at the Casa Carrillo factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and come packaged in cream-colored boxes of 20. The launch, first shown to retailers at the PCA trade show earlier this year, was delayed several months due to a box-production issue.
