Global Coffee Awards Asia 2026: Taiwan’s All Day Roasting Company Takes the Podium

Taiwan’s All Day Roasting Company won the overall title at the Asia edition of the Global Coffee Awards 2026, announced on July 13, earning Gold medals in both the Filter and Plant-Based Milk Flat White categories. Other regional winners include oma Coffee Roaster from Hong Kong (Espresso Gold), Kopikana Coffee Roaster from Indonesia (Dairy Flat White Gold) and Addicto Coffee from Thailand (Specialty Drip Bag Gold).

The Asia results are the latest stage of the global competition, with regional winners set to compete in 2027 against roasters from North America, Europe and Latin America for the title of World’s Best Roaster. Organizers note that Asia’s specialty coffee market is currently the fastest-growing in the world.

San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2026: Platinum Medal Winners Announced

The Tasting Alliance has published its list of Platinum Medal winners from the 2026 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, considered one of the most rigorous contests in the global spirits industry. The Platinum Medal is reserved for products that demonstrate consistent quality across repeated blind tastings throughout the competition.

Winners include Blanton’s Straight From the Barrel, Eagle Rare — distilled at Buffalo Trace and aged a minimum of 10 years — and Brother’s Bond Cask Strength, a bourbon founded by actors Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley. The list also features smaller distilleries such as Bainbridge from Washington State, with an all-organic wheat whiskey, and Peg Leg Porker, the brand launched by a well-known Tennessee pitmaster.

Villiger Launches the 1888 San Andrés, a Cigar With a Mexican Wrapper

Villiger Cigars has expanded its 1888 line with a new blend, San Andrés, which reached North American retailers in mid-June. The cigar pairs a Mexican San Andrés wrapper with an Ecuadorian habano binder and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, and is rolled at the Villiger Cigars de Nicaragua factory in Estelí.

The maker describes the blend as medium-full, with notes of espresso and black pepper leading to an elegantly nutty finish. The new line comes in three sizes — Robusto (5×50), Toro (6×50) and Churchill (7×47) — priced between $12 and $13, joining the existing Villiger 1888 Dominican Republic and Nicaragua editions already on the market.

Indri Founder’s Reserve Becomes the First Luxury Indian Whisky Listed at Harrods

Piccadily Agro Industries marked the international debut of its Indri brand with an exclusive listing at Harrods in June, featuring the 11 Year Old Founder’s Reserve. The bottle sells for £350 and is limited to just 1,100 bottles worldwide — stock sold out within weeks of launch, and the whisky is now available only through a handful of specialist UK retailers.

The whisky is matured for 11 years in ex-Bordeaux casks and bottled at cask strength, 58.5% ABV. It is crafted at the Indri distillery in Haryana, at the foothills of the Himalayas, where northern India’s extreme climate speeds up maturation. Tasting notes include dark fruit and warm spice, followed by cherries, red plums, vanilla and oak.

The European Union Formally Joins the New International Coffee Agreement

The European Union has formally approved, on its own behalf, the International Coffee Agreement 2022, replacing the older 2007 agreement. The new text updates the International Coffee Organization’s (ICO) voting and contribution system and, for the first time, brings the private sector and civil society into the organization’s work.

The new agreement was originally adopted back in 2022 by the International Coffee Council, but the ratification and formal accession process for member states continued into this month, when the EU finalized its approval.

The move is seen as an important step for the long-term stability of the global coffee market, at a time when worldwide production, exports and consumption are, according to recent estimates, hitting record levels.

Bacardi Takes Its ecoSPIRITS Packaging Partnership Global

On July 16, 2026, Bacardi signed a new global agreement with ecoSPIRITS, deepening their collaboration on circular packaging and broadening access to the ecoSPIRITS technology platform across Bacardi’s brand portfolio worldwide.

The licensing agreement gives Bacardi access to the full ecoSPIRITS circular platform, including ecoTOTE™, SmartPour™, ecoPLANT™ and the CircularONE™ software.

The partnership began in August 2023, when Bacardi became the first spirits company to introduce circular packaging in the cruise industry. Since then, using Bacardí Carta Blanca rum, the company has eliminated more than 130,000 single-use glass bottles, preventing over 82,000kg of packaging waste. The technology is now used by more than 3,000 leading bars, restaurants and hotels worldwide.

Aganorsa Leaf announced a new collaboration with US platform Cigar Dojo in July 2026: Crispy Boy, a cigar designed to deliver a refreshing smoking experience, tailored for the warmer months.

The blend pairs an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with all-Nicaraguan tobaccos, including a double Nicaraguan binder — a recipe in line with the brand’s known lines such as JFR, Leaf and Guardian of the Farm. The cigar is set to ship in August 2026.
