Julius Meinl has announced the 2026 edition of its international Barista Cup competition, bringing together baristas from 17 countries — including Romania, Moldova, Austria, Italy, Poland and the United Arab Emirates. National rounds ran from April to July, and the grand final will take place in Vienna, the brand’s home city, on September 4, 2026.
Competitors will work on SCA-certified Rancilio Specialty RS1 espresso machines, alongside precision Fiorenzato grinders and BWT water purification and mineralization technology. The RS1 combines multi-boiler technology with an advanced temperature profiling system, giving baristas fine control over the sweetness, acidity and balance in every cup.
The competition runs across three categories — Espresso, Cappuccino and Signature Drink — with judges evaluating technique, flavor and presentation. The event confirms growing interest in specialty coffee across the region, including in Moldova, which held its own national round.
