Scottish distillery Bruichladdich, on the isle of Islay, is marking 25 years since its 2001 relaunch with a limited edition called Greener Still. Unlike many whiskies built around cask influence, this release puts the focus on barley: it blends three varieties — organic barley grown on the Scottish mainland, biodynamic barley from Yatesbury House Farm in England, and Bere barley from Orkney.
The whisky was matured for 15 years in first-fill bourbon barrels, bottled at 51.6% ABV, un-chill filtered and free of added color. The nose offers lavender and honeysuckle, the palate brings ripe pear and cinnamon, and the finish is smooth with a lingering saltiness. B Corp-certified Bruichladdich also highlights the project’s environmental angle through regenerative-agriculture partnerships. Greener Still is available from August 2026, priced at around £120.
