The 17th edition of the statewide Best of Hawai’i cupping competition has named a natural-process Gesha coffee from Miranda’s Farms, in the Ka’ū district of the Big Island, as its top winner. Results were announced on July 31 during the Hawaii Coffee Association’s annual conference on Maui.
The 2026 edition introduced a new structure with three divisions: an Innovation category focused on experimental post-harvest processing and fermentation techniques, a Microlot division for batches of at least 500 pounds, and a new Hawai’i Heritage Washed division centered on the traditional washed method. The competition reaffirms, year after year, the reputation of Hawaiian coffee — and Gesha in particular — as one of the world’s most sought-after single-origin coffees, prized by baristas and roasters for its floral, complex profile.
