Old Forester releases the 2026 edition of its legendary Birthday Bourbon

Old Forester has released the 26th edition of Birthday Bourbon, the anniversary bottling the distillery puts out every year around the birthday of founder George Garvin Brown — traditionally around 2 September. The release is regarded as one of the official signals that the fall season has begun for American bourbon collectors.

The 2026 edition is an 11-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 97 proof (48.5% ABV), selected from 212 barrels on the third floor of Warehouse B, the oldest warehouse at the Brown-Forman distillery in Shively, Kentucky. The selection was made by master distiller emeritus Chris Morris, together with assistant master distiller Caleb Trigo.

Bardstown Bourbon Company releases two 2026 editions: Discovery and Lochs of Jura

Bardstown Bourbon Company has unveiled its two annual releases for 2026, both priced at USD 139.99 per 750 ml bottle, rolled out nationwide in limited quantities from 21 August.

2026 Discovery is a blend of 7-, 10- and 11-year-old bourbons matured in Garryana oak barrels, bottled at 112.8 proof (56.4% ABV), with notes of toasted oak, burnt sugar and baked apple cobbler.

Jim Beam brings back the „Ten Pin” bottle, now with a 10-year-old bourbon

Jim Beam Black 6 Y.O. Kentucky Bourbon

Jim Beam has revived one of its most collectible packages: the bowling-pin-shaped decanter, a design that dates back to the 1950s and that founder Jim Beam used to give to friends and business associates.

The 2026 edition, called „Beam’s Ten Pin Bottle”, holds a Kentucky straight bourbon aged 10 years in new charred American oak barrels and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV). It launched on 22 August, on Jim Beam’s birthday, exclusively at the James B. Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky, with a suggested price of USD 124.99 for the 750 ml bottle.

Compared with the 2025 version, an 8-year-old bourbon released for the distillery’s 230th anniversary, the new edition raises both the age and the proof.

Chattanooga Whiskey releases a whiskey finished in Moldovan ice wine casks

US distillery Chattanooga Whiskey, from Tennessee, has released Moldovan Ice Wine Cask Finished, the eighth chapter of its Barrel Finishing Series. It is a Tennessee High Malt, a blend of five malt whiskeys and one bourbon, aged at least four years, with more than a year of finishing in casks that held sweet ice wine from a Moldovan winery — one of the oldest and most awarded in the country, set in the hills above the Black Sea.

The whiskey is bottled at 95 proof (42.5% ABV) and costs $59.99 for a 750 ml bottle. It was available from 13 August 2026 at the Chattanooga experimental distillery and in a handful of US states, plus limited quantities online. The aroma profile includes notes of French toast, wildflower honey, toasted oak, cream soda and candied ginger.

The choice of Moldovan casks confirms the international reputation of ice wines from the Republic of Moldova, increasingly used by distilleries around the world for special finishes.

Maker’s Mark Cellar Aged 2026: an extra-matured bourbon priced at 175 dollars

American distillery Maker’s Mark has presented its fourth Cellar Aged edition, a Kentucky bourbon matured longer than the standard bottling. The 2026 release combines 11-, 12- and 14-year-old whiskies (roughly 49%, 33% and 18%) and is bottled at cask strength, 112.1 proof, or about 56% alcohol.

After years in the traditional warehouses, the whisky is moved to a cellar cut into the limestone shelf at Star Hill Farm, where cooler temperatures slow its interaction with the wood. According to the company, this cooler maturation „allows the fruit to shine while keeping the oak in balance”. The edition goes on sale in the United States on 1 September 2026 at a suggested price of 175 dollars a bottle. The production volume was not disclosed.

World Whisky Masters 2026: Indian Distilleries Shine, a Scotch Claims the Top Title

The World Whisky Masters 2026 competition, run by The Spirits Business, published its results in August following blind tastings held in London by panels of bartenders, buyers, journalists and educators. India stood out in the single malt category, earning one Master medal and eleven Gold medals; the top honor went to Godawan Single Malt Rich and Rounded, part of Diageo’s portfolio, while South Seas Distilleries collected five Gold medals for its Crazy Cock range.

Meanwhile, at the Scotch Whisky Masters 2026, nine blended Scotch whiskies received Master medals, the competition’s highest award. In the day’s final round, every Master-medal whisky went head-to-head for the World Whisky Taste Master title. The results point to a growing trend: distilleries outside Scotland, particularly in India, are steadily gaining ground in prestigious global whisky competitions.
