Phillippe „Akira” Kato wins the 2026 American AeroPress Championship

Phillippe „Akira” Kato of Newbery Street Coffee in Boston won the 2026 American AeroPress Championship, held at Studio B in Boston and presented by Atomic Coffee Roasters. Kato came out on top of a field of 36 competitors.

Second place went to his Newbery Street colleague Sompetch „Pack” Katisomsakul, while the podium was rounded out by Justin Enis of Enjoy Coffee Roasters in Providence, Rhode Island.

As champion, Kato will represent the United States at the World AeroPress Championship, scheduled for 6 December in Mexico City, where he’ll compete alongside national champions from dozens of countries for the world title in this fast, portable brewing method.
