On 1 October, at the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes, Habanos S.A. unveiled a new cigar in the Montecristo portfolio: the Fragata. The release is intended exclusively for duty-free stores around the world.
The Fragata is a 5 1/2 x 54 parejo, the same format as the popular Partagás Serie E No. 2. Its name means “frigate” in Spanish – a small, fast warship – and nods to the novel The Count of Monte Cristo, which inspired the brand’s name. Habanos describes it as a classic Montecristo blend with a medium to strong body.
The cigar keeps the traditional Montecristo band, joined by a second red-and-gold band decorated with a fleur-de-lis. It comes in a 20-cigar travel humidor priced at €1,100 (about €55 per cigar).
