La Aurora, regarded as the oldest cigarmaker in the Dominican Republic, has announced three limited-edition cigars, all rolled at its factory in Santiago and scheduled to reach retailers in the second half of October.
The first is Puro Vintage 2016, a 6 1/2 x 60 Salomon in which every leaf comes from the 2016 harvest. The wrapper is Ecuador Havana, the binder is Brazilian, and the filler combines tobacco from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Colombia. Production is 700 boxes of 8 cigars, at $28 per cigar.
The other two belong to the Hors d’Age 2025 line, built from tobacco aged for at least 12 years, with an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper and binder. They come as a 5 3/4 x 54 Toro ($31.50) and a 6 7/8 x 40 Lancero ($25), in boxes of 15. The US allocation is 700 boxes of the Toro and 500 of the Lancero. All three are medium to full in strength.
