The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), the leading global body for specialty coffee, has presented its slate of candidates for the board of directors election for the 2027-2029 term. Jon Allen, co-founder and chief executive of US roaster Onyx Coffee Lab, has been named for the position of Second Vice President of the association.
Other candidates put forward for the board include Ahmed Bin Sulayem (DMCC), Sunalini N. Menon (Coffeelab Limited of India) and Karsten Ranitzsch (Nespresso). The SCA board sets the strategic direction of the organisation, which runs standards, competitions and training programmes for coffee professionals worldwide.
Onyx Coffee Lab, based in Arkansas, is one of the most awarded US roasters of recent years and was recently nominated for the James Beard Awards.
