Knob Creek, the bourbon brand founded in 1992 and regarded as one of the founders of the small batch category in American whiskey, has announced a new limited edition: Knob Creek 12 Year Old Cask Strength. It is a Kentucky straight bourbon aged for 12 years and bottled straight from the barrel at 121.2 proof (60.6% ABV), with no dilution.
The whiskey is produced by The James B. Beam Distilling Co. and will be distributed nationwide in the United States in time for the winter gifting season. The suggested retail price is $89.99 for a 750 ml bottle. The new expression joins the brand’s portfolio of age-stated bourbons, which already includes 7, 9, 10, 12 and 15-year-old variants.
According to the official description, the nose brings caramel, char and dried apple, while the palate combines butterscotch, dried apple and seasoned oak, leading to a warm finish with caramel and a subtle hint of cinnamon. Master distiller Freddie Noe explained that after twelve years in the rickhouse the batch had exactly the depth the team was looking for, which is why they decided to bottle it just as it was.
