Houston-based Bocock Brothers has added a new chapter to its Stadium Series: a cigar created for the 100th anniversary of the University of Missouri’s Memorial Stadium (Faurot Field). The venue opened on October 2, 1926, in memory of the 112 students and alumni of the university who died in the First World War, and it recently completed a renovation of roughly $250 million timed to coincide with the centennial.
The “Mizzou Stadium Series: Memorial Stadium 100 Year Celebration” comes in a single format, a 6 x 52 toro that the maker describes as full-bodied. The blend uses a Honduran maduro wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and a filler that combines tobaccos from Honduras, Nicaragua and Paraguay. The cigars are rolled at the Casa Don Andrés factory in Danlí, Honduras.
Each box holds 10 cigars and sells for $399, or almost $40 per stick. The collector’s boxes are hand-painted and reproduce the silhouette of the stadium. Co-founder Bryant Bocock said that taking part in the university’s centennial is “a genuine honor.” The company has not disclosed the total production run.
