Starting 1 September, United Cigars released two new vitolas in its Independence line: a robusto (4⅞ x 50) and a toro (5⅞ x 50). The blend, created by German manufacturer Arnold André at its Dominican Republic factory, uses a Mexican Habano wrapper, with binder and filler from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua.
The blend debuted earlier this year as a limited edition called Independence Firecracker, part of the company’s long-running Firecracker series. Strong consumer response convinced United Cigars to turn Independence into a permanent production line, with the two standard vitolas shipping in 12-count metal tins that can later be reused as ashtrays.
„Why mess with success?” said Oliver Nivaud, director of operations at United Cigars, in a press release. United Cigars is also the American distributor for Arnold André.
