Casa Carrillo Adds a Robusto to the Pledge Purple Line

Casa Carrillo, Ernesto Pérez-Carrillo’s company, is expanding its Pledge Purple line with a second size: a 5 1/4 x 52 robusto, due to reach US retailers in the coming week. Until now the line existed only as a toro.

Pledge Purple appeared in 2026 as a tribute to Pledge Prequel, the cigar named Cigar Aficionado’s “Cigar of the Year” in 2020 with 98 points. The blend is built on a Havana-seed Connecticut wrapper grown by Dunn & Foster and taken from the same 2020 crop, so aged for nearly a decade. The binder is Mexican, while the filler combines Nicaraguan tobacco from Estelí, Condega and Ometepe.

The cigars are rolled at the Casa Carrillo factory in the Dominican Republic, in limited quantities throughout the year. The suggested price is $16.50 per cigar, in boxes of 10.

Pledge of Allegiance Rockets: Casa Carrillo Launches a Humidor of All-American Tobacco Cigars

Casa Carrillo, the company led by Ernesto Pérez-Carrillo, has announced Pledge of Allegiance Rockets, a limited edition created for the 250th anniversary of US independence and scheduled to reach retailers right about now. The cigar is a 6 3/8 x 58 figurado made at the Casa Carrillo factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

What sets the release apart is the tobacco: both blends use only leaf grown in the United States. The first has a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and a Pennsylvania binder, while the second has a Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper and a Connecticut Havana binder. In both cases the filler combines Pennsylvania and Connecticut tobacco.

Each humidor holds 20 cigars, 10 of each blend. Production is limited to 250 humidors, priced at $1,000 ($50 per cigar). Some of the humidors will be used at events and raffles dedicated to US military members and veterans.

Casa Carrillo Launches Ascend, the Fifth Line in the Pérez-Carrillo Series

The Pérez-Carrillo family, one of the most respected names in premium cigars, has announced the launch of Ascend, produced under the Casa Carrillo label. It is the fifth regular-production line in the company’s portfolio and has already begun shipping to retailers in the United States.

This summer has also brought other notable cigar releases: AVO unveiled the Expresivo Toro, its first blend produced entirely in Honduras, Aging Room expanded its Blue series with the Amber Maestro edition, and Tatuaje brought back the Black Label Torpedo, this time box-pressed and without its usual protective tube.

Traditional tobacco fermentation techniques were also in the spotlight at the 2026 Procigar Festival in the Dominican Republic, where regional master blenders showcased their newest leaf combinations.
