Hard Truth Unveils Dark Roast Rye, a Bonded Whiskey With Coffee and Chocolate Notes

American distillery Hard Truth Distilling Co., based in Indiana, has unveiled Dark Roast Rye, the third release in its 2026 Master Distiller’s Reserve series. The bottled-in-bond rye blends, in equal parts, two of the distillery’s award-winning mash bills — RW-3 Chocolate Malt Rye and RW-4 Caramel Malt Rye — from a batch of just 25 barrels, bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV) per bonded standards.

The whiskey pours a dark amber, with official tasting notes of buttered toffee, caramel custard, café mocha and clove, followed on the palate by butterscotch, Swiss chocolate and vanilla, finishing with fudge brownie and dark-roast coffee. The release officially debuts on September 26 at the distillery’s Harvest Festival in Nashville, Indiana, priced at $59.99 and available both at the distillery and across the brand’s retail footprint in more than 20 states.

For those drawn to characterful American whiskeys, Mister Tabaco offers a varied selection in its alcohol category.
