Glenmorangie 50 Years Old: the distillery’s oldest ever whisky, limited to 149 bottles

Whisky Glenmorangie Original 10 Years 0,7l

Scottish distillery Glenmorangie released the oldest whisky in its history in September 2026: Glenmorangie 50 Years Old, a single malt distilled in the mid-1970s. The edition is limited to 149 numbered bottles.

The spirit was first matured in bourbon casks and first-fill Oloroso sherry butts. Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation, spotted the potential of these casks as early as 1995, and in 1999 he brought them together in a single refill hogshead, where the whisky finished its maturation. A historic detail: the barley comes from the last batches malted at the distillery itself, before its own floor maltings closed in 1977.

The whisky is bottled at cask strength, 45.7% ABV, non-chill filtered, in handcrafted porcelain vessels made by American ceramic artist Peter Pincus. The announced price is around €30,000, and bottles are sold through Moët Hennessy’s Private Client team, the Tain visitor centre and a few selected retailers.
