Scottish distillery Glengoyne, owned by the independent family company Ian Macleod Distillers, launched Teapot Dram Batch No. 12 on 8 October, the latest edition of its series dedicated to an old distillery tradition.
The name comes from a custom of the 1960s and early 1970s, when workers received three drams of whisky a day. The younger staff poured their share into a shared copper teapot, and its contents were blended over the course of the day. The practice ended in 1974.
The new batch is a non-age-statement single malt matured exclusively in first-fill sherry casks, including European oak Oloroso casks. It is bottled at 59.2%, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring. Production is limited to 3,300 bottles at a recommended price of £125, available only from the distillery shop and the Glengoyne website. The official notes mention toasted marshmallow, cinnamon, raspberry compote and dates.
