Ardara Distillery, part of Sliabh Liag Distillers in County Donegal, Ireland, has released the 2026 edition of Ardara Single Malt — the second consecutive year of production for this heavily peated whiskey. The distillery’s process, dubbed “The Ardara Method,” uses heavily peated malt, an all-grain-in process and triple distillation, followed by 72 hours of resting in 6,000-litre Solera vats before transfer to casks. Maturation combines ex-Oloroso sherry casks (63%), ex-bourbon barrels (35.7%) and virgin American oak (1.3%). Bottled at 46% ABV, the whiskey offers notes of sweet smoke, orchard fruit, rolled tobacco, roasted coconut, almond, leather and baked apple. A cask-strength version at 60.9% ABV has also been released for a more intense take on the same peated style.
