Aberfeldy releases a 27-year-old single malt finished in Madeira casks, limited to 276 bottles

The Aberfeldy distillery in Highland Perthshire, founded in 1898 and associated with the Dewar’s brand, has released Aberfeldy 27-Year-Old Madeira Double Cask Finish, a new edition in its Exceptional Cask Series.

The whisky spent almost 21 years in former bourbon barrels and then roughly six more years in Madeira wine casks. The finishing was monitored cask by cask by malt master Stephanie Macleod, who says a successful finish should feel like a natural extension of the whisky rather than something imposed on it.

The official tasting notes mention red apples with honey, candied orange peel and a sweet cinnamon finish. The edition is limited to just 276 bottles at £600 each and is sold exclusively through the distillery and its online shop.

Aberfeldy is not part of our catalog, but you can explore the whisky and spirits selection at Mister Tabaco.
