Montecristo No. 4 is the world’s best-selling cigar, distinguished by unwavering quality and a proud Cuban aroma, perfectly balanced in every respect. The cigar’s colour is maduro colorado, with an impeccably glossy cap and a dense roll of excellent quality. Its size is ideal for any time of day, and its excellent draw will suit every smoker. Unlit, its aroma is almost imperceptible, but the taste is quite expressive — salty, spicy and nutty. Once lit, the cigar gives off a sharp, spicy character, with well-defined hints of tree bark, animal leather and damp earth. From the very start, the fragrance is divine, dominated by nuances of noble wood and aged leather. The taste is dominated by spice and bitterness. Moving into the second third, the smoke starts to become stronger and rougher, but the overall impression doesn’t deteriorate at all — a pleasant, aromatic aftertaste saves it. In the final third, the composition of the aroma and flavour becomes noticeably more complex and evolves. You’ll taste nutshells, then the sweet bitterness of dark “fondant” chocolate is added. The last puffs carry a noticeable coolness, like mint. The smoke is enjoyable to the very last puff, after which a long, intoxicating aftertaste appears, with herbal notes.
