The Montecristo Maltés wrapper leaf is superb, with a honey-chestnut colour. Even unlit, this Cuban cigar has a very rich palette of aromas: oak wood, earth, leather, popcorn and vanilla sweetness. The first third of the Montecristo Maltés opens very intensely, combining earthy aromas with a taste of dark cocoa beans, followed by notes of creamy oak, hay, leather and coffee beans. Moving into the second third, you’ll continue to pick up citrus notes and caramel sweetness. But the dominant aroma shifts slightly — now the creamy note takes the lead, followed by aromas of peanuts, leather, ground coffee and earth. In the final third of the Montecristo Maltés, the creamy note continues to dominate, underscored by citrus and caramel aromas. The flavour profile also includes black pepper, along with earthy aromas, tea leaves, peanuts, leather and coffee beans.
