The Fall 2026 edition of the National Coffee Data Trends report, conducted by Dig Insights for the National Coffee Association (NCA) among 1,882 U.S. adults surveyed in June, confirms that coffee remains the daily drink of the majority: 66% of respondents had coffee in the past day, averaging 2.6 cups, slightly below the 2.8 recorded in January.
Specialty coffee keeps growing: 48% drink it daily and 59% weekly, while espresso-based drinks reach a record 47% weekly consumption, up from 40% in 2022. Out-of-home consumption rises to 38% daily, the highest level since January 2020, and among those buying from coffee shops 55% use drive-throughs and a record 40% order through apps.
Cold drinks are gaining ground too: 21% of daily consumption is cold or iced coffee, compared with 17% in January. For at-home purchases, mass merchandisers climb to 28%, while traditional grocery stores slip to 35%.
