H. Upmann has released a new Toro vitola (6 x 54) in its Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez series, called Sunrise — the third collaboration between the Cuban-American house and master blender AJ Fernandez. The cigar features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, grown and fermented by Fernandez himself, resulting in a balanced, medium-bodied profile.
According to manufacturer Altadis U.S.A., Sunrise is “our take on a Connecticut done right” — crafted by master blenders Rafael Nodal and AJ Fernandez to round out the line with a milder option. The series comes in four sizes, from Robusto to a 6×60 Magnum, priced between $13 and $14.50 per cigar.
The release marks another step in H. Upmann’s expansion for the U.S. market, where the brand remains one of the most cherished historic Cuban names, now reissued through Nicaraguan production.
