Chichibu Australia Edition 2026: A Japanese Single Malt in Just 480 Bottles

Japan’s Chichibu distillery, founded in 2008 by Ichiro Akuto in Saitama Prefecture, has announced its third annual edition created specifically for the Australian market. Chichibu Australia Edition 2026 is a fully unpeated single malt drawn from six casks: a bourbon barrel, hogsheads, small “Chibidaru” casks made at the distillery’s own cooperage, and a component matured in a cask that held red wine made locally in Chichibu.

The whisky is bottled at 48.5% ABV and limited to 480 bottles. The label features “Whisky Girl” by Sydney artist Yosi Messiah, a mixed-media work with silver and gold pigments depicting a geisha holding a whisky glass.

The edition is distributed by importer Casa de Vinos and will be available from 15 November at specialist shops and bars across Australia, at a recommended price of 385 Australian dollars.

Chichibu is not in our catalogue, but you can explore the whisky and spirits selection at Mister Tabaco.
