Australian manufacturer Breville has entered the automated pour-over segment with the Spiral Luxe Auto Pour Over, which went on sale in the US at the end of September through its own website and Williams Sonoma, priced at $599.95.
The machine grinds the beans and brews the coffee in a single cycle, while the water spout moves above the conical dripper, mimicking a manual spiral pour. The grinder uses 40 mm flat burrs with stepless adjustment, and water temperature is electronically controlled, with three settings available. Users can program the coffee-to-water ratio, the number of pours and the pauses between them. Coffee is collected in a glass carafe of about 600 ml.
Breville is targeting both enthusiasts who want to automate their favourite recipe and consumers moving away from pods or pre-ground coffee. The group also owns the Baratza and Lelit brands.
