Description
Partagas Selección Privada 2014 is an excellent Double Robusto cigar with remarkable strength. It’s reminiscent of Partagas Serie D No. 4, but can be a bit stronger. The tobacco used is grown in Cuba’s finest region, Vuelta Abajo, and aged for at least two years. First third: the opening is fairly strong and robust, with a pronounced white-pepper note. These aromas soon settle, the harshness fades and gives way to notes of earth, dried mushroom, hay, wood, coffee and leather. It’s a truly authentic Partagas in taste. Towards the end of the first third, notes of cocoa and a sweetness like corn syrup or perhaps fruit tart appear. Second third: the flavour profile continues from the first third, with even more leather, oak and a greater amount of earthiness. A nutty note also appears, alongside toasted tobacco and a rise in pepper. Final third: the Cuban cigar grows stronger. The dominant aromas are wood and coffee, yet still very creamy.
