Partagas Maduro No. 1 is a rich, strong Havana, made using extra-fermented tobacco for a more complex profile. First third: rich chocolate notes are present from the start, along with hints of dried apricot. The aromas overall are smooth, with the body sitting around medium. Some spicy notes (black pepper) stand out. Second third: the aromas remain very well balanced. Roasted almonds now join in. Final third: the cigar grows stronger, now sitting at a medium-to-full level, yet the aromas remain very well balanced, with no harshness or bitterness. Notes of lily-of-the-valley wood join the overall composition, along with a touch of added sweetness.
