Description
In 1976, at the age of 5, he was introduced to tobacco growing, guided by his grandfather Andrés Beltré (Don Titi) and his father, Alcibiades Beltré. The tobacco produced by the family was used to make artisanal cigars, helping local communities produce over two million kilograms a year.
This early exposure to plantations and tobacco processing contributed to his current knowledge and his passion for enjoying a good cigar, which later became the SB brand.
“On a beautiful spring morning, arriving at our cigar factory, our master Victor Infantes immediately speaks to me and tells me that a few days earlier he had dreamed of me; and when he arrived at the factory the next day he made this special blend inspired by that dream. ‘Oh, Mr Victor, what an honour, thank you so much,’ I told him. I immediately began smoking the cigar and, after about 30 minutes, I said to him: ‘Don Victor, but is this a cigar? What you’ve made is Swiss chocolate wrapped in tobacco leaves, and it’s a wonderful cigar.’ It sparked laughter among those present, and that’s how the name of that vitola was born (Swiss chocolate, CSZ).”
