Romeo y Julieta Churchills Reserva Cosecha 2008 cigars are a worthy representative of the brand, produced in a limited series and packed in numbered wooden boxes of 20. They are made from the finest tobacco from the famed Vuelta Abajo plantations, fermented for at least three years. The opening is fairly unexpected, with strong bitterness combined with earthy notes and a light chili kick. Don’t be put off right away, though — the sharp character of the Reserva Cosecha 2008 soon recedes, making way for spiced aromas, hints of honey, nuts, exotic fruit and noble wood. The development is gradual; in the second third, honey notes appear alongside a hint of mushroom and light bitterness. The smoke closes with spice dominant, a light liveliness and a long aftertaste.
