Founder Melanio Oliva first grew his world-renowned aromatic tobacco in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, back in 1886. Furthermore, after three generations and two revolutions, Melanio’s grandson, Gilberto, found a new place he called home, on the fertile lands of Nicaragua. Today, Gilberto and his family are among the largest growers of Cuban tobacco in Nicaragua. They continue to use the same time-tested drying, blending and rolling methods that built their empire. Additionally, the famous Tabacalera Oliva in Estelí, Nicaragua, hand-makes Oliva Serie O Corona cigars. In fact, they’re the makers of world-renowned brands such as Nub, short and strong, and Cain, made with great care. You’ll certainly be delighted to see some of them in your humidor next time you pick up a cigar.
