Scottish distillery The Dalmore, owned by Whyte & Mackay, has expanded its permanent Principal Collection with Cigar Malt Signature Reserve Aged 18 Years – a single malt designed explicitly for moments when whisky is enjoyed alongside a cigar.
The whisky matured for 16 years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and was then finished in four cask types: Matusalem sherry, Marsala, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the last three in French oak. Each adds its own nuance – from dried fruit and spice to tannic structure. The producer describes notes of chocolate orange, dried figs, dates, marmalade and cinnamon. It is bottled at 46%, with natural colour and without chill filtration.
The recommended price is £299. Dalmore Guild members can buy it from 15 October, with the global release on 19 October.
