Best of Panama 2026: the Geisha variety once again tops specialty coffee rankings

The results of Best of Panama 2026, one of the most closely watched specialty coffee competitions in the world, were announced in early August. Panamanian farms once again confirmed the Geisha variety’s status as a benchmark for quality.

In the washed Geisha category, Elida Estate scored 96.25 points, while Lérida Estate won the natural Geisha category with 95.63 points. In the Varietals category, first place went to Altieri Specialty Coffee with 93.63 points. Hacienda La Esmeralda took the Copa Panamá for the highest accumulated score in the competition.

The auction of the winning lots, where record prices are usually set, is due to take place later. In 2025, a washed Geisha lot from La Esmeralda sold for more than USD 30,000 per kilogram.
