The Dutch organization IDH (Sustainable Trade Initiative) launched the Resilient Coffee Program in Hanoi on August 11 — a four-year initiative designed to build a regenerative, verifiable coffee supply chain across four major producing countries: Vietnam, India, Colombia and Uganda. The goal is ambitious: reaching 300,000 farmers by 2030 and generating roughly 500,000 metric tons of “regenerative” coffee annually.
German retailer Aldi Süd has been named the platform’s lead investor, with the program structured as a pre-competitive investment vehicle open to other industry players. It relies on the “Regenerating Together” framework, developed by the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform, to consistently measure, verify and report progress on regenerative farming practices. In Vietnam alone, the initiative targets around 75,000 farmers, roughly 10% of the country’s coffee-growing households.
